2 captains, special visitors Flo and Joanna (this was BCs way of ensuring Flo and Joanna did not end up on the same team!). Team selection was:
Team Shake & Bake
Joanna, Beads, Balut, Backfire, Worm, Sweet n Low, Alphabet
Team GOAT
Flo, BC, Periwinkle, Spam, Mr. Miyagi, H.A.L., Candy Cane, Litter Box
Mosey to the backlot.
Tha Thang:
Home base at the middle light pole.
8 stations around the parking lot. Objective is the team to get the most stations complete.
Rules:
Only 2 members of team can be away from home base doing a station at a time.
* All stations must be completed in a round before you can repeat a station to start a 2nd round
* Remaining PAX at home base keep working with home base coupons, but those don't count towards the tally. Just to keep you working between stations.
* Individual PAX should not repeat any stations.
Prize: All PAX on winning team will get a Spartan Patch (see pic below. BC already placed the order, didn't know how many would be needed until I got a count today).
Station 1: Rope Climb
Station 2: Pull-up Bar Traverse (all 4 sides, if you fall, get back up until you finish))
Station 3: 115# Sled Hoist (about 50 yards)
Station 4: Cindy Farmers Carry – ~75 yards down and back
Station 5: Burpee Bridge across 20 parking spaces
Station 6: Power Ball hang – 30 seconds cumulative (if you fall, get back up until you get all 30 seconds)
Station 7: Bucket Carry – light pole to light pole and back
Station 8: Sandbag Rock Gauntlet – throw 50#or 60# sandbag over rocks. Hit all rocks
Home base workouts: Battle rope, forearm Twist, ruck step ups, concert blocks for curls/squats/kb/triceps, etc), burpees, Merkins… Just keep working
Final Tally: GOAT had an extra man, so had a1 stroke penalty. S&B had a faulty marker but struggled to count. Q decided that S&B won 30-29.

Important to remember that F3 is not about me vs you, but rather you vs you. Competition is great for drive or motivation, or just something to chase, but your measure of success and gain needs to be against where you were and your own standards. Don't cheat yourself, but don't compare yourself to others as a measure of success. And that applies to way more than just a workout.
AAR: Spartan style (heavy coupons) are challenging to plan for when the PAX count is high and unknown. YHC tried to combat this with this Team Competition format. Overall it worked.
* Homebase workouts should be scripted rather than OYO – found PAX getting distracted in trying to coordinate who needed to run next and to which station (great leadership though!)
* For the sandbag rock gauntlet, in addition to throwing the sandbag over the rocks, the PAX should go over the rocks as well instead of around.
* Be clearer about distances and turnaround points … cones are great for this.
