Motivators from 12 —- but we counted down by 2 between sets … 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2
Mosey to the rocks by the picnic tables, up and over the rocks for old times Spartan sake.
Mosey to the demolished bush next to the nearby parking spaces. Tell the story of what happened to this poor bush. Basically Honker gave R-12 a Dodge Ram that is too big, and R12 likes to use this Ram to go over the grass instead of using the pavement. His tall hood prevented him from seeing the victim bush after baseball practice this week, so he just went right over it. Poor bush.
12 burpees by each PAX circled around the bush.
Mosey to the stadium.
Tha Thang:
Since we already had an R12 story, and the stadium coincidentally has 12 columns of stairs, YHC decided to make this workout all about 12.
At the bottom of each stairs, do 12 merkins (vary between standard, incline, and decline).
Sprint the stairs.
At the top of each stairs, do 12 squats, getting low.
Rinse & Repeat for all 12 sets of stairs … 144 merkins and 144 squats.
Mosey to the field. YHC had 2 more 12-themed routines ready to go, but YHC also came prepared with a football since it is Friday. We decided to have a little 3 on 3 (DQ/SnL/FlatTire vs FrenchPress/BackFire/BC) touch football game to round out the last 15 minutes of the workout. “Attack of the Frenchies” (Betty Crocker lined up directly behind French Press at the snap, causing Mass Confusion in the secondary and leaving BC wide open) helped take a commanding lead, but the final down was deemed a “Golden Goal” point … you score, you win. DQ threaded the needle masterfully to Sweet N Low who despite his age and chronic knee pain, smoked the other team for a 40 yard TD and the win. They almost carried him off the field in celebration.
Finish with a round of 12 Dirty Hookups against the stadium walls as we left the stadium.
COT:
The normal stuff – Spartan this weekend for a few crazy PAX, Bataan Death March next Spring, talk to Bogey. Suicide Awareness/Prevention Workshop tomorrow online … free, attend if you can.
The abnormal, but more meaningful, was a good discussion about mental health, societal stigmas of men and mental health, therapy, and medication. We also discussed the importance of being willing to be vulnerable, to listen, and the need to ask the hard questions if something seems off with someone. In the light of Mr Miyagi’s note about his cousin this week, and a few deaths of co-workers this week (some self-induced), this topic was very relevant. Lean on each other. Leave no man behind.
