WarmOrama:
Before warming up we had a buy-in challenge. A hula hoop was set up in grass about 15 yards away. Each PAX had three golf balls to pitch with and if ball ends up inside the hoop area, then game over. We all head to Sunrise for breakfast. YHC purposefully picked Garden City’s finest turf or lack thereof to hit from. No one hit the target but a few came close. Ultimately we all decided to sell our golf clubs and put a down payment on a boat. On to the warmorama.
Plank it up. Rock back on heels a few times.
Slow merkins.
While still in plank, RH up in air and stretch. Switch LH up and stretch.
5 dive bombers.
Runners stretch. Prayer twist. Go into pigeon. Then switch it up.
Tutti Stretch.
Grow-in stretch.
After stretching and warming up we all had one more chance to hit the target. Some close ones but still no winners. On to the workout.
Tha Thang:
It’s Masters week and a tribute workout to the greatest golfer of all time.
In his 20’s this is the typical workout Tiger Woods would do. Woods explains how his daily routine consisted of waking up for a four-mile jog, before going to the gym to lift weights, followed by two to three hours of range practice, play some holes, return to work on his short game, run another four miles and then play basketball or tennis if the option was there.
The lowest single round score at the Masters (played on the Augusta National Golf Course, Georgia, first in 1934) is 63 by Nick Price (Zimbabwe) in 1986 and Greg Norman (Australia) in 1996.
The Thang began with a run with vest on or carrying coupon around the AO loop. Then we came back to do the following:
– Alternating merkins (Hand on and off kettlebell)
– Kettlebell reverse lunge
– Single arm kettlebell swings
– Kettlebell single arm overhead squat
All exercises done x63 reps.
COT:
Coffeeteria at Sunrise on Chatham Parkway. Great 2nd F fellowship time and nice to get to know your brothers better.
Enjoy the rest of Masters week!
