WarmOrama:
Not much warming up except for taking a pre-Ruck Proof of Life.

Weigh your rucks (Cheddar wins with 54.1 lbs), apply your body glide as necessary, adjust your grape smugglers as needed, and get your mind right for the next 5-6 hours! Let’s go!!!

Tha Thang:
Extended ruck to benchmark where you are at to meet the Bataan Memorial Death March standard (26.2 miles, 35#).

Start: Lake Mayer
Finish: Service Brewing

— 0600 step off didn't quite happen because some didn't understand the carpool rules
— Cheddar Biscuit realized real quick that leaving his truck parked at Service Brewing means nothing if his keys are in Tutti's vehicle back at Lake Mayer
— Vinyl with the speaker and tunes ranged from Bone Thugs N Harmony to Metallica to Rage Against the Machine to Eminem and Chris Stapleton; many of these songs never to have ever played at your high school prom, well maybe Shamwow
— Weather started out humid, then overcast, to drizzle and then short steady pour; eventually the storm passed and the sun came out with a slight breeze, perfect weather for a ruck
— Along Eisenhower our gaggle of ruckers caught up with a local city worker heading home that was startled to see us but decided to try and walk with us for a bit; Cheddar did want to give him an F3 name
— When the sun broke someone said take a picture of that rainbow…reminds me of Sakrete!
— Pergo kicked off the early miles with some Dad jokes that involved saran wrap and nuts and towards the end something about missing digits and being lactose intolerant
— Gilligan brought up a very good point about where all the "ice" style beers went that were so popular when we were in college (i.e. Icehouse, Keystone Ice, Milwaukee's Best Ice, etc.); we almost picked a few up at the convenience store stop
— Tutti Frutti brought the first round of shots for our first stop at Daffin Park; like literally brought them in his ruck
— Mysterious red truck with two ladies stopped next to us while on Victory drive to yell "hey fellas!"
— Mr. Miyagi passed up all the restroom opportunities the first 6 miles and decided we needed to stop at mile 6.5
— Frozone is a big advocate of separation underwear and even got complimented for his sexy legs by the same lady that gave Tutti his sexy ass calves nickname; she might have said something to the effect of "Oooh I need to crawl up those legs…"
— Betty Crocker bought the second round of shots for our next stop at Forsyth Park but refused to let us take them in the playground area
— Gilligan and Betty Crocker reminded us of the poor girl that jumped in the fountain during our New Year's ruck a few years ago; we're all confident she still making good choices to this day
— While on River Street, Tutti was interviewed by various tourists about rucking because although he is not a professional he sure damn looks like one
YHC finally got a chance to try out the ruck straps that Vinyl produced; a definite game changer to use on future training rucks
— Litter Box spoke perfect Korean to the guys that took our finishing picture at Service Brewing, which is just one of the 11 languages LB speaks fluently
— We started and ended with the same number of PAX..10 infil and 10 exfil. Success, aye!

COT:
COT consisted of a group pic at Service Brewing.

We are officially 1 year out from the Bataan Memorial Death March 2025, which is the year YHC turns Respect. Not only will these periodic benchmark rucks happen until then, I’ll soon share more details on the potential trip and travel costs.

Homework assignment is to read about the Bataan Death March. Take a look at articles, historical accounts, profiles, etc. of the war during that era. One of the recent quotes I’ve read from a Bataan survivor:

“Although the Japanese stole our honor, deprived us the simplest necessities of life, and forced us into slavery, still our values remained intact and we never lost faith in our country and our God.”
